Ingredients in Air Fryer Fish

As always, here is a quick overview of the ingredients used in our Air Fryer Fish Tacos. For the complete recipe, just scroll to the bottom of the page.

  • Frozen battered fish fillets – I used Gorton’s, each one is about 2 ounces. Feel free to use your favorite brand.
  • Tortillas – We used flour, but you can use corn, low-carb, or gluten-free varieties if you like. Street Taco size tortillas fit one filet perfectly and is best for kids, but we used fajita-size for the adults.
  • Cojita cheese and Shredded cabbage – Queso fresca is another crumbly cheese that complements the fish well. I like the crunchy bite of cabbage, but you could swap it with lettuce if you prefer.
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, tomatoes, avocadoes, creamy jalapeno sauce, etc.

How to make fish tacos

This is super simple; you’ll just need an air fryer (basket or rack works).

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees for 2-3 minutes. Spray with oil.
  2. Add frozen fish fillets to the air fryer and cook for 12-13 minutes, flipping once around the 7-minute mark.
  3. Remove from air fryer when crispy and cooked through. Place inside a tortilla (you may need 1-2 fillets depending on the size of your tortillas), then top with cabbage, cheese, and any other toppings you like.

What to Serve with Fish Tacos

We like these with a squeeze of lime juice, a little hot sauce, and some fresh cilantro. For sides, try the following:

Storage & Reheating

For The Fridge – Leftover components should be stored in separate airtight containers up to 2-3 days.

For The Freezer – Cooked fish can be frozen up to 2 months, but I would not recommend freezing the assembled tacos.

To reheat, warm up fish fillets at 350 degrees F in the air fryer (2-3 minutes) or oven (5-10 minutes), then assemble tacos as directed.

Get the perfect crispy fish taco in less than 20 minutes with this easy air fryer recipe! Air Fryer Fish Tacos have crunchy edges and moist, flaky centers for an easy dinner the whole family will love.

Ingredients

  • 4 frozen battered fish fillets
  • 2 tortillas, or 4 street taco sized tortillas
  • 1/4 cup cotija cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded red cabbage
  • Optional: 2 ounces of sour cream or fiesta yogurt, recipe in notes, tomatoes, avocados

Instructions

  • Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F for 2 minutes.
  • Spray the bucket or rack with oil, then place the frozen battered fish fillets in the air fryer.
  • Cook for 7 minutes, then flip and cook an additional 5-6 minutes. When flaky, cooked all the way through, and crispy on the outside, remove from air fryer.
  • When the fish is cooked, place two fillets in each tortilla (or one in each street taco tortilla), then top with shredded red cabbage and cotija. Garnish with sour cream, fiesta yogurt, avocado, or tomatoes.

Notes

I used Gorton's Crispy Battered Fish Fillets; each fillet is about 2 ounces each.
Fiesta Yogurt: Mix 16 ounces of plain, unsweetened yogurt with one packet of Hidden Valley Ranch fiesta dip mix. Add juice from one lime, then stir and add water until it reaches a drizzly consistency.
