Cooking Sausage in Air Fryer

Sometimes you need an easy out. I love cooking my own breakfast sausage patties, but the oil splatter turns a quick recipe into a bit of an annoyance when I’m in a hurry. I did some experimenting with the air fryer instead to try to speed up cooking and eliminate the need to clean up the stove!

Air frying thawed or frozen sausage patties is easy, convenient, and delicious. The air fryer produces deliciously crispy bits that would pair perfectly with these Gluten Free Buttermilk Biscuits or these Keto Biscuits!

How Long to Cook Sausage in Air Fryer

Cooking times are dependent on whether you are cooking sausage patties or links as well as if you are cooking them from frozen or thawed.

Sausage Patties in Air Fryer

Frozen sausage patties can be cooked at 350 degrees F and will be ready in just 8 minutes! Thawed sausage patties also cook at 350 degrees F and take just 5 minutes to cook.

If cooked at 350 degrees F, frozen sausage links take only 10 minutes to cook. If your sausage links are thawed, cook at 350 degrees F for 8 minutes for a delicious, juicy breakfast. Keep in mind sausage links can vary in length and width and the cooking time will need to be adjusted. If you have ultra large sausage links the cooking time will be longer. To be sure, use a meat thermometer and check for an internal temperature of 160 degrees F.

Internal Temperature for Sausage

Sausage is done when it has reached an internal temperature of 160 degrees F. The best way to know when the sausage is done is to use a meat thermometer. Simply stick the probe into the center of the sausage and once it reaches 160 you are good to go!

How do you clean grease from an air fryer?

One by product of air fryer sausage is the grease, it is just inevitable! You can line the basket of the air fryer with one of these handy liners, which will help a lot with clean up. But to properly clean your air fryer just remove the basket and use a good grease cutting dish soap, such as Dawn to the basket and fill it with hot water. Allow the basket to sit at least 10 minutes and scrub with a good dish brush.

What to Serve with Air Fryer Breakfast Sausage

You could serve this air fryer sausage alongside a stack of Gluten Free Strawberry Vanilla Buttermilk Waffles or this Classic Avocado Toast! These Crispy Homemade Hash Browns would be delicious, especially with these Easy Baked Eggs or Cheese Grits.

If you’re trying to stay low carb, consider making these Easy Keto Breakfast Sandwiches, made easy with meal prep friendly keto bagels! These Jalapeno Cheddar Chaffles would add a bit of spice, or you could use these Basic Keto Chaffles for a low-carb avocado toast! Add a Keto Caramel Frappuccino, and you are ready to go!
