This Avocado Feta Dip requires a handful of basic ingredients and comes together in just a few minutes. It is great on tacos, wraps, salads, and more!
I’m calling it, guys. This Avocado Feta Dip will be your new favorite! It’s the perfect appetizer, is full of fresh ingredients, requires no cooking, and can be prepared in minutes!
This dip has guacamole vibes, but better! The creamy, ripe avocado, tangy lime juice, salty feta, and fresh basil make for an ultra-refreshing dip!
This is also amazing on tacos, salads, burritos, or wraps! Spread it on toasted bread, stuff it into cherry tomatoes or mini sweet peppers, or dunk some crispy gnocchi into it. Pair it with this Jalapeño Lime Chicken for a quick and easy restaurant-quality meal!
Ingredients
As always, this is a quick overview of the ingredients needed for this dish. For the complete, printable recipe, scroll to the recipe card below.
- Avocados: You will need three large, ripe avocados. If yours are on the small side, use 4-5 for this dip!
- Red Onion: Don’t worry—it’s not overpowering! In a pinch, you can add chopped green onions or shallots instead.
- Fresh Basil: skip the cilantro; you won’t be sorry!
- Lime: This recipe requires fresh lime juice, and if you enjoy a citrus taste, you can add a bit of lime zest!
- Feta: Crumbled feta cheese. The recipe requires 1/2 cup, but cheese is like garlic and butter…you should measure it with your heart.
- Olive oil, salt, and pepper: just a few basic ingredients elevate this dish to the next level!
How to Make Avocado Dip
This is so incredibly simple; it is barely a recipe! All you need is a bowl and a spoon – Just follow these two simple steps.
- Add the diced avocado, red onion, basil, lime juice, feta, olive oil, salt and pepper in a bowl.
- Gently combine the ingredients with a spoon and serve immediately. If you prefer a smoother texture, mash a bit more. If you enjoy a chunkier texture, mash less.
Serve
- Veggie Tray: serve alongside fresh vegetable slices like cucumbers, bell peppers, sliced radishes,
- Chips and Crackers: great with tortilla chips and salty crackers.
- Tacos: excellent on these baked chicken tacos or this Jalapeño Lime Chicken.
- Protein: serve alongside air fryer salmon, chicken or over Cajun Chicken Thighs.
Storage
As with all avocado recipes, time (and oxygen) is the enemy. This dish is best served fresh, and I highly recommend making it minutes before serving. If you have leftovers, you can expect the avocado to turn brown. There are a few things you can do to mitigate this.
- Vacuum: Store in a vacuum seal container like this one.
- Water: I know it sounds weird, but water works with avocados. Put the dip in a container that fits it well, cover the top with cold water, seal, and store. When ready to serve, drain the water and blot the top with a paper towel.
- Keep the peel: I don’t think this works as well, but it does help some. Save your peels, press them on the top of the dip, and store them in an airtight container.
Tips
- Use avocados that are ripe, but not too soft; they will hold their shape better.
- If you can only find ripe avocados that are a bit too soft, you can mash them and then fold in the remaining ingredients. The texture will be more similar to guacamole.
- Add salt and pepper to taste. I don’t provide that measurement because feta can be quite salty on its own.
