Air Fryer Crab Cakes

These Air Fryer Crab Cakes are deliciously crispy on the outside, while being perfectly tender on the inside! Premium crab meat is paired with creamy mayonnaise and egg, crunchy green onion and Old Bay Seasoning. Pork Rind Panko gives you the signature crunch of a classic crab cake without the carbs, as well as being gluten free! You can also use traditional bread crumbs if you aren’t low carb.

These keto crab cakes come out so flaky and delicious, you won’t believe they aren’t fried! By making them in the Air Fryer, you cut out a significant portion of oil without sacrificing any flavor. You also have almost no clean up, which makes these perfect for a fancy weeknight dinner! There’s also less than one net carb per crab cake!

If you prefer, you can also use these cooking instructions for a store bought frozen crab cake. If you are making homemade patties, you could use lobster meat instead of crab, or make a combination of both! These gluten free Crab Cakes are also perfect for meal prepping, so you can have a healthy lunch ready for the week!

Ingredients for Air Fryer Crab Cakes

Here is a quick overview of the ingredients used in our keto crab cakes. For the complete recipe, just scroll to the bottom of the page. This recipe is low carb and gluten free, but if you do not have any dietary restrictions, feel free to use your favorite frozen crab cake.

  • Premium lump crab meat
  • Mayonnaise
  • Egg
  • Chopped green onions
  • Lime juice
  • Lime zest
  • Old Bay (or other all purpose seasoning)
  • Pork rind panko crumbs OR normal panko breadcrumbs if not low-carb or gluten free

How to Cook Crab Cakes in Air Fryer

First, preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees for 2-3 minutes. Next, mix all the ingredients together in a medium sized bowl and allow it to chill a minimum of 10 minutes. Separate and pat the mixture into 6 crab cakes. Spray your Air Fryer with oil and place your crab cakes in a single layer. Cook for 10 minutes, but check at 8 minutes. Thinner crab cakes will cook more quickly, so if yours are thinner than mine they will cook faster.

How long to cook frozen crab cakes in air fryer

Whether you bought frozen crab cakes or you meal prepped yours and froze them, you can easily cook them in the air fryer. If cooking from frozen, cook for 12-13 minutes at 380 degrees. If you have thawed your patties, then cook for 8 minutes and then check them. If they are not cooked enough for you, cook for 2 more minutes.

Are Air Fryer Crab Cakes good for keto meal prep?

Absolutely! You can prep the crab cakes one day ahead of time and store in the fridge. When you are ready to cook, prepare your patties and cook fresh. Patties can also easily be frozen before or after cooking. I recommend freezing onto parchment or wax paper in a single layer, so your crab cakes don’t freeze together.
