Gluten Free Waffles

Waffles are a true comfort meal for me! They are crispy, delicious, and make the perfect base for some yogurt and fruit in the morning. If you are a waffle lover too, I know you will love these Strawberry Waffles ones! I paired mine with this Toasted Coconut Granola and these Homemade Hash Browns!

If you’re on a gluten free diet, these waffles are such a great recipe. They are rich from the buttermilk, flavorful from the vanilla and are paired perfectly with the strawberries! These waffles were a huge hit at our house, and they definitely will be at yours as well! Top with fresh strawberries, your favorite syrup, chocolate chips or some whipped cream! Ingredients in Buttermilk Gluten Free Waffles

Here are the ingredients for our gluten free waffles. For the complete recipe, just scroll to the bottom of the page.

How to make Strawberry Waffles

These waffles start off with a special touch! First, we put the strawberries in a food processor or blender and crush them. Then, add the flour, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla to the blender with the strawberries and blend everything together until you have a smooth texture.

Once your batter is ready, just heat your waffle iron, lightly spray it and start cooking! To get the perfect amount of batter, I like to use a ¼ cup measuring cup to spoon the batter into the waffle iron. Cook your waffles about 4 minutes until they are golden brown and then dive in!

Are Gluten Free Waffles good for meal prep?

Waffles store in the freezer extremely well! If you are not going to serve these right away, I suggest letting them cool on a wire rack to help them stay crispy. Once your waffles have cooled completely you can pop them into a storage bag and keep them in the freezer. When you are ready to reheat your waffles, pop them in a toaster or toaster oven and warm them until they are ready to eat again! I like to toast mine in a toaster for about 4 minutes. These waffles will stay keep in the freezer for up to three months.

Tips for the best Strawberry Waffles

  • Be sure that your food processor or blender has incorporated all of your ingredients fully- you don’t want chunks!
  • Make sure that your strawberries are ripe for the best flavor
  • Be sure that you are using pure vanilla extract

How to Store and Reheat Gluten Free Waffles

To store these waffles, I recommend freezing them. Place your cooled waffles onto a baking sheet and place in the freezer. Freeze for at least two hours and then place into a freezer safe bag. Make sure to separate your waffles by a layer of parchment paper or wax paper. Your waffles will stay fresh in the freezer for up to four months. Once you are ready to reheat, just pop in your toaster and warm up! I toasted mine for about 4 minutes and they came out perfect.
